Privacy Policy
This policy explains which personal data is processed when you visit japanesegrimoire.com and when you sign up for the free practice and the letters that follow.
1. Controller
Dr. Mark Hosak
Neckargasse 1
69412 Eberbach
Germany
Email: mark@japanesegrimoire.com
2. Hosting
This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc., 101 2nd Street, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA. When you open the site, the server automatically processes technical data such as your IP address, date and time of the request, browser type and the page requested. This is necessary to deliver the website securely (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Transfers to the USA are based on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and/or standard contractual clauses.
3. Signing up for the free practice and the letters
When you enter your first name and email address, we use them to send you the free practice (PDF) and a short series of letters about the Japanese tradition, including occasional information about the Japanese Grimoire Society and live initiation weekends. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR).
We use the double opt-in procedure: you receive an email and have to confirm your address before anything else is sent. We store the time of sign-up and confirmation to be able to prove your consent.
You can withdraw your consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email or by writing to mark@japanesegrimoire.com. Your data is then deleted from the mailing list, unless we are legally obliged to keep it.
4. Email service provider: Brevo
Sign-up and sending are handled by Brevo (Sendinblue SAS), 106 boulevard Haussmann, 75008 Paris, France. Brevo processes your data on our behalf under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). Brevo can measure whether an email was opened and which links were clicked; we use this only in aggregate to improve the letters.
5. Fonts and embedded videos
This site loads fonts from Google Fonts (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Your browser connects to Google servers, which transmits your IP address. Some pages embed YouTube videos in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com); data is only sent to YouTube/Google when you start a video. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (a consistent, appealing presentation of the site).
6. External links
If you follow a link to Skool (Japanese Grimoire Society), ablefy (booking of live events) or YouTube, the privacy policy of that provider applies there.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15-21 GDPR), and the right to withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Baden-Württemberg.
8. Storage period
We keep your data for as long as you are subscribed. After you unsubscribe, your email address may be kept on a blocklist so that you receive no further emails.
